President Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian Authority and Executive Operations, Muqata’a Compound, Al-Tireh Neighbourhood, Ramallah, West Bank, Palestine, Middle East.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister’s Office, Public Enquiries Department, Kiryat Ben Gurion, Building C, Jerusalem 91950, Israel, Middle East.
Dear Mr Netanyahu and Mr Abbas,
If you would kindly consider getting together in the same room and signing this peace treaty, I, and 99% of the rest of the world, would be eternally grateful.
It is World Peace Day on the 21st of September in this year of 2025.
And I honestly believe if you both can get peace here between your two countries, we can get peace everywhere. Hence the blog.
Your names will not only go down in history as some of the hugest, kindest, and cleverest politicians that ever lived; a lasting peace treaty will hopefully be a perfect reference point and portal for all would-be peace plans in the future.
Imagine that, you two hold in your hands the power to catalyse peace on Earth.
The best of all lucks to you both.
Sincerely,
Nikki Wordsmith

Proposed Peace Treaty
The State of Israel and the State of Palestine hereby agree to the following:
Article I – Mutual Recognition
1. The State of Israel and the State of Palestine formally recognise each other’s right to exist.
2. The State of Palestine shall exist as a sovereign and independent nation.
Article II – Borders and Territorial Integrity
The borders between the two states shall be based on the 1947 UN Partition Plan Resolution 181 as a division of Mandatory Palestine into Jewish and Arab States.*
For realpolitik and pragmatic reasons, any land swaps required will be on a 1:1 ratio to accommodate demographic and security concerns.
3. Final maps shall be mutually agreed upon and respected as the New Day One.
Article III – Jerusalem
1. Jerusalem shall serve as the capital of both states and be an international beacon of hope for peace, love, light, and religious tolerance for the globe.
2. Jerusalem, the Old City, and Holy Sites shall become a sacred shared spiritual capital of the world. It will be administered through a two-leader, two-state bilateral agreement with special international support from grassroots up to government levels.
3. This arrangement will guarantee freedom of worship for Jews, Muslims, Christians, and all other religions.
4. This guarantee for freedom of worship for all will create the world’s most exciting mechanism for generating a good-faith feeling for the planet, and equally shared economic incentives from tourism to keep the city safe and welcoming to all visitors.
5. With this shared mechanism for revenue, this will align similar interests and foster long-term co-operation via fundamental common causes.
Article IV – Security
1. Both states commit to renouncing violence, terrorism, and incitement.
2. Palestine and Israel shall be partially traditional militarised states. While also maintaining a security force for internal policing and counterterrorism under international oversight.
3. There will be civilian-led security and law enforcement, coast guards, and special police units.
4. The main focus of the state philosophy shall be for a peace-orientated constitution with a focus on diplomacy and neutrality.
5. External defence agreements can be mutually agreed upon with the same third-party state offering support for both sides.
6. A Multinational Monitoring Force (MMF) shall oversee border security and compliance during a transitional period of ten years, including representatives from both Israel and Palestine.
Article V – Refugees
1. A mutually agreed solution to the Palestinian refugee issue shall include:
* Return to the State of Palestine.
* Resettlement in third countries.
* Limited family reunification in Israel, subject to Israeli discretion.
* Compensation for loss of property and suffering, through an international fund supported by donor states.
2. Refugees shall forfeit further claims upon accepting a solution under this treaty.
Article VI – Settlements
1. Israeli settlements located outside the agreed swapped areas shall be evacuated or come under Palestinian jurisdiction.
2. Compensation and resettlement assistance shall be provided to displaced Israeli citizens through an Israeli-administered fund.
Article VII – Water and Natural Resources
1. Both parties agree to equitable sharing of water resources based on international law.
2. A Joint Water Management Committee shall be formed to resolve disputes and ensure sustainable use.
Article VIII – Economic Cooperation
1. Israel and Palestine shall normalise economic relations and promote cross-border trade, tourism, and investment.
2. A Joint Economic Development Council shall oversee cooperative projects and aid distribution.
Article IX – Diplomatic Relations
1. Upon ratification of this treaty, both states shall exchange ambassadors and open full diplomatic relations.
2. Both states agree not to support or recognise any hostile entities that threaten the peace agreement.
Article X – Dispute Resolution
1. Disputes arising from the implementation of this treaty shall be resolved through negotiation, mediation, adjudication, the MMF and at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
2. A Peace Implementation Committee with international observers shall oversee treaty enforcement for the first ten years.
Article XI – Final Provisions
1. This treaty shall enter into existence upon ratification by both parties’ legislative bodies.
2. This treaty supersedes all prior agreements inconsistent with its terms.
3. Amendments must be agreed upon by both parties and approved through legislative ratification.

*I am aware this is probably practically impossible but we have to start somewhere. I am sentimentally attached to this plan because my Grandad Earlam was sent to Palestine after serving in WW2. More on him in another post.
